The City that Never Sleeps is stunning and home to many amazing locations. It was almost like going through emotions! But the one spot that truly made an impression on me was the Statue of Liberty, which I visited while riding a ferry to Manhattan. Pure New York, that is!
Best place to visit in New York | Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty was a collaborative effort between France and the United States to celebrate the two countries' long-standing relationship.
The monument was sculpted by French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi out of sheets of hammered copper, while the steel structure was built by Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the guy behind the famous Eiffel Tower.
The Statue of Liberty was then handed to the United States and built on a tiny island in Upper New York Bay, today known as Liberty Island, atop an American-designed pedestal, and dedicated by President Grover Cleveland in 1886.
Over the years, the statue stood tall while millions of immigrants landed in America via adjacent Ellis Island; in 1986, it had a major repair in commemoration of the centennial of the Statue of Liberty.
